Cyberport signs MoU with InnoSpace (Thailand) to strengthen bilateral start-up support
Cyberport and InnoSpace (Thailand), a public-private joint venture set up to support Thailand’s start-ups, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Bangkok in late February to strengthen reciprocal support for start-ups.
Under the MoU, the two organisations will develop a collaborative framework to promote innovation and start-up development. This includes facilitating knowledge exchange among entrepreneurs and between the two start-up ecosystems, and supporting each other’s start-ups to expand into different global markets.
Six start-ups from the Cyberport community that are eyeing the Thai market were there to showcase their innovative solutions and business models, including Snapask (EduTech), Find Solution AI (EduTech), Origami Labs (Smart Living), Vyond (Smart Business), AVA (FinTech), and OneDegree (FinTech).
Dr Lee George Lam, Chairman of Cyberport, said that the bilateral cooperation will provide an extended network to assist start-ups of both regions to expand their businesses along the Greater Bay Area, the Belt and Road, and beyond.
Peter Yan, CEO of Cyberport, said: “Cyberport has an Innovation and Technology community of over 1,200 companies. We will facilitate InnoSpace start-ups to develop further by integrating them into our community. As a member of Cyberport community, InnoSpace startups can enjoy our services and have access to our Cyberport Investor Network, Enterprise Network and Technology Network. They may also collaborate with local and international business partners to develop new opportunities. Cyberport can springboard them to enter Hong Kong, Mainland China and the Greater Bay Area markets.”
Mr Yan joined a panel discussion after the signing ceremony and shared his insights on creating an entrepreneur-friendly environment and on cultivating innovative talent for a technology-driven economy.
The signing ceremony, which was a highlight of the “Thailand-Hong Kong Strategic Partnership” event organised by Thailand’s Department of International Trade Promotion, was witnessed by Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Mrs Carrie Lam and Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak. The MoU was signed by Mr Yan and Tevin Vongvanich, Chairman of the advisory committee of InnoSpace (Thailand).
