FluentUp helps busy learners find the perfect language courses around the world

It isn’t always easy for busy professionals to find quality, flexible, and effective language learning services that fit their lifestyles and professional needs.

For Alexander Mozley and Michael Hung, who had trouble finding courses to learn Putonghua for work, decided to develop a good and useful language learning service.  And soon they realised that this is a US$55 billion market waiting to be tapped.

After conceiving the idea in 2017, the pair launched the FluentUp learning platform last year with the help of the Cyberport Creative Micro Fund.

Using the service is elegantly simple.  Users only need to indicate their learning needs on the Learning Management System (LMS), and let the platform’s AI match them with online courses provided by a network of over 100 language schools from 11 countries that offer more than 20 accreditations. Personalised offers and free trial lesson are also available.

In addition, users can use the interactive dashboard to chat live with a school representative or teacher, review all the information to make an informed decision, and pay for the lessons.

Schools in the FluentUp network now offer six main online course categories in 13 languages, ranging from kids learning to specialised career courses, tailored to suit the needs of individuals and small groups.

New features in the pipeline include a real-time video classroom environment that integrates elements of AI such as facial and speech recognition, and LMS tools for schools to provide digital learning material for students.

Targeting the global market, FluentUp is planning to expand into Asia, in particular, Mainland China and Southeast Asia, and into Europe and Japan for B2B programs.
