BOCHK FinTech Hackathon generates ideas for tomorrow
Cyberport incubatee PolyDigi won the second runner up at the BOCHK FinTech Hackathon in March. PolyDigi was recognised for their proposal to use SIM cards to achieve secure and easy Know Your Customer authentication. Meanwhile, start-up Lab Viso Limited and Reboot.AI were also the winning teams won cash prizes and a fast track interview opportunity to the Cyberport Entrepreneurship Programmes.
Ten FinTech start-ups and eight university teams were chosen out of 90 applications to participate in the challenge which saw start-ups address the future of banking services. Teams had to, for instance, develop tech-led ideas that addressed issues such as the expansion of branch networks, improving quality services, developing innovative payment methods and tapping into investment application tools to better equip investors with customized analysis and information. “With technology’s rapid development, financial institutions, more than ever, are seeking new and innovative ways of doing things. This hackathon gave start-ups and students the ideal opportunity to make a difference in FinTech,” said Dr. Toa Charm, Chief Public Mission Officer of Cyberport.
