Cyberport to launch first offsite Smart-Space in Tsuen Wan
Cyberport has given start-ups companies and young entrepreneurs in Hong Kong a brand new place to pursue their dreams with the first off-site Smart-Space in Tsuen Wan that is due to launch in April. The move is part of the government’s Space Sharing Scheme for Youth, launched at the end of last year, to provide shared working space at revitalised industrial and commercial buildings to young entrepreneurs at half of the market price to kick-start their entrepreneurship dreams. Cyberport first introduced its co-working space concept to Hong Kong in 2009 in order to provide flexible offices for local start-ups, SMEs and overseas companies. Over the years, Smart-Space has been home to many technology companies including Zegal (formerly known as Dragon Law), Lattice, A Privacy and BULL.B. The current 7 Smart-Spaces house nearly 400 companies representing a range of industries from e-commerce to IT consultancy, digital marketing and FinTech. The Tsuen Wan site - Smart-Space 8 (SS8) can accommodate over 140 companies with 60 flexi-spaces, 48 workstations and 33 office rooms. Located at the CDW Building in the heart of Tsuen Wan, the newly renovated commercial complex comprises of the a shopping mall and many restaurants, as well as connected walkway to MTR plus many other options of public transport. Chairman of Cyberport Dr. Lee George Lam expressed his excitement over the new SS8, “we are happy to extend our entrepreneurial support into the wider community. SS8 is much more than a physical office, it also offers a platform of start-up nurturing and support including access to a rich network of industry exchange activities, mentorship programmes, investor matching, workshops and more.” More details and online applications for SS8 will be announced on the Cyberport Facebook.
